Day One

Today is the first day of actual homeschooling with my 11 year old son. Later I may write about why we chose homeschooling, the methods we are using and why, but for the time being I would like to chronicle his progress here while I figure out the best way to keep track.

Most of these were done in time blocks of 30 minutes, with the exception of health, science, and meditation
1. Health

45 minutes of calisthenics and walking on the treadmill.

2. Science

Watched the documentary "Turtles: "The Incredible Journey." Wrote nine facts about turtles from the documentary, then wrote a series of questions about turtles to be researched tomorrow.

3. Social Studies

Started working on the country unit study pages offered from http://www.thehomeschoolmom.com. He chose Japan.

4. Writing

he wrote for 30 minutes in his journal, however tomorrow I will provide him with choices for writing prompts.

5. Reading
(Silent reading,30 minutes)
Everworld by K. A. Applegate

6. Math
Mom tutoring: Exponents

Later, hopefully his dad will follow up with math and music
